A beloved face,
painted by hand
Beyond his own work, David Catá paints. Portraits in oil, acrylic, watercolour or pencil to order: the face of someone who matters to you, brought to canvas or paper for ever.
Commission a pieceWhat it is
A face painted by hand is a way of stopping time.
A commission is not a product: it is a conversation. You tell me who you want portrayed, we choose the photograph and the format, and the slow work of oil begins.
The result is a unique piece, painted layer by layer and signed: an original painting, to hang, to give, to keep.
How it works
From the first conversation to the painting hanging on your wall. Simple and unhurried.
We talk
You tell me who you would like portrayed or what painting you have in mind. No obligation, no rush.
You choose the photograph
A good photo of the person, or the idea for the painting. Together we decide on technique and format.
Painting process
Weeks of work, layer by layer, until the idea breathes on the canvas.
The painting, yours for ever
An original work, signed and ready to hang. A unique piece that endures.

Frequently asked questions
How much does a portrait or painting cost?
Each piece is unique —it depends on size, technique and complexity— so the price is agreed when we talk it through, with no obligation.
How long does it take?
Oil painting is slow work: depending on the piece and the schedule, it usually takes weeks or a month or two. For a special date, it’s best to give plenty of notice.
What do I need to commission one?
For a portrait, a good photograph of the person. For a painting, the idea or a reference image. With that, we begin to talk.
What exactly do I receive?
An original painting, hand-painted and signed, ready to frame or hang. A unique work, yours for ever.
Where can I commission from?
From anywhere in the world. Everything is arranged by email and the work is shipped carefully packaged.
Does it work as a gift?
A hand-painted portrait is one of the most personal gifts there is. For anniversaries, tributes or moments that call for something unique.
