Who I am
“I photograph oblivion by stitching memory onto my skin.”
David Catá is a contemporary artist who combines photography, video, painting and music in an intimate language charged with symbolism. A Fine Arts graduate from the University of Vigo, with a master’s in photography from EFTI and musical training at the Viveiro Conservatory, he understands art as an extension of memory and emotion.
His work has been exhibited in institutions and galleries in countries such as Spain, Portugal, France, Germany, Austria, the United States, Mexico, Cuba, Peru, Uruguay, Brazil, China and Cambodia, and is part of the collections of museums and public institutions.
Beyond his visual work, he pursues an intense audiovisual practice: he shoots the making-of photography and post-production for the shows and specials of José Mota on TVE.
