Cimientos
A house suspended on the palm of the hand: the invisible ties that hold up who we are.
About the series
Cimientos is a photographic series by David Catá about what sustains our identity. Beyond architecture, the true foundations of a person are built from the relationships, experiences and bonds that precede them.
In the first image, a small house rests on the palm of his hand, suspended by threads sewn to the skin. Those threads represent the family and emotional ties that keep us bound to our origin; the hand becomes the ground where the home finds support.
In the second, a living plant sprouts from the hand: architecture gives way to nature and the threads turn into a new possibility of growth. Bonds do not only hold us up; they also make our evolution possible. To grow does not mean to detach from the origin, but to let what has built us keep nourishing new forms of life.
