Horizonte. Pan de Açúcar, Río de Janeiro — David Catá

Horizontes

The horizon of the places that made him, sewn with needle and thread onto the palm of his own hand.

About the series

In the Horizontes project, David Catá weaves the narrative of his life with needle and thread directly onto his skin. This autobiographical diary takes shape on the palm of his hand, evoking his mother’s trade as a seamstress, an influence that deeply marked his childhood.

Each landscape sewn in Horizontes corresponds to places that matter in his life and in his personal diary. David confronts his past and is drawn by the uncertainty of the future. These settings do not only define his emotional world: they become the backdrops of his personal story.
